Haven & Hide is an independent editorial publication on belts, wallets, and the considered carry of everyday life.
Haven & Hide is an independent editorial publication for people who actually look at the things they put in their pocket. We write about belts, wallets and the small leather goods that quietly do most of the carrying in a person’s day — the wallet that goes everywhere for a decade, the belt that finally sits right, the card holder you stop noticing because it’s simply correct.
We are not a marketplace, and we are not a brand. We are a small editorial team that reads sales pages so you don’t have to.
Our archive sits at one specific intersection: belts and wallets that are sourced from a global online marketplace, where the same designs travel under many labels and the only meaningful filter is taste and judgement. We cover slim card holders, bifolds, trifolds, long zippers, travel wallets, dress belts, casual belts, ratchet belts, and a handful of weirder things that earned their place. We don’t cover anything we wouldn’t reasonably consider buying for ourselves.
Every review on Haven & Hide is built on the same five evaluation criteria. We assign an editorial score from one to five, expressed in tenths, and we publish the trade-offs alongside the strengths. There is no ‘perfect’ product on the site — if there were, we’d be doing the reader a disservice by pretending so.
We do not accept payment in exchange for placement. Our editorial scores are independent of our affiliate relationships. Where pricing is shown on the site, the ‘estimated retail’ figure is compiled from publicly available marketplace listings to provide a reasonable point of comparison — final price varies by seller and region, and we always recommend checking before purchase.
We will tell you when something is fine, when something is good, and when something is genuinely worth keeping. We will not call a wallet ‘life-changing’, because no wallet has ever changed anyone’s life. We will not pretend a thirty-dollar belt was crafted by a single artisan in a sun-lit workshop, because most of the time it wasn’t. And when something punches well above its price, we will say so plainly — that’s the whole point of doing this.
Haven & Hide participates in affiliate programmes from third-party retailers. When you click certain product links on this site and complete a purchase, we may receive a small commission — at no additional cost to you. These commissions help fund the editorial work behind the site. They never influence our scoring, our selection, or our willingness to call something out when it deserves to be called out.
